Get Sharp at the Cutting Edge

00:00 - 00:00 | Thursday 30th October 2025 |
Advanced

Modern audio software demands interfaces that are both powerful and intuitive, yet traditional native GUI frameworks often limit creative possibilities and perpetuate homogeneous design patterns. Audio interaction design needs diversification through experimentation and that means faster front-end development. This presentation explores a practical approach to get there. WebView frontends and embedded JS engines communicating with native audio backends through hybrid WebSocket and native IPC bridges.

By decoupling the interface from the audio engine, developers unlock the full potential of modern web technologies for audio application design. This architecture enables radically diverse interface approaches - from 3D controls to gesture-based interactions to completely novel paradigms in XR. Attendees will discover how this flexibility inspires rapid prototyping, captivating visual interfaces, and diversity for interaction design. Through live demonstrations using Cables.gl for 3D visual programming and Svelte5 for reactive coding, coupled with Elementary, JUCE and CHOC for audio and networking, this talk reveals practical techniques for creating next-generation native audio software that leverages the web's wildly diverse ecosystem.
